Care home: Cash purchases

'Cash purchases' are any payments you make to suppliers with whom you do not have an account. You have to pay for these goods when you buy them. Suppliers you might make Cash purchases from include:

  • your local cash and carry (many do not offer account facilities)
  • supermarkets and other local retailers (you may, for example, need to top-up on food and cleaning supplies from time to time - a small care home might purchase quite significant amounts of supplies from local retailers rather than from wholesalers)
  • suppliers like local farmers and producers, who will often want to be paid there and then
  • other suppliers from whom you buy goods only infrequently

Remember to keep any invoices and receipts for Cash purchases safely.
