You will need a telephone to run your business successfully. If, as is likely, your office is at home and you decide to use your domestic line for business purposes, you should get itemised phone bills so that you know how much you have spent on business calls and you should also allocate a certain percentage of the line rental for business use. You should be able to claim this as business expenditure and set it against your tax bill.
An alternative to using your domestic line would be to install a different line that you would only use for business calls. Or it may be more convenient for you to use a mobile phone dedicated to business calls, particularly as you are likely to be away from your home for much of the day.
The telephone company will bill you every month or quarter for the calls you have made, often plus an amount for the line rental for the next quarter.
You may also decide to have a website to advertise your act, including photographs and/or videos of you performing, testimonials from satisfied clients and any reviews by local media. Shop around to get the best package of internet connection, website hosting and email services for your needs at the keenest price.
